Good News! Window Vent Visors (Rain Guards) for older Foresters and Imprezas are finally in stock!

Finally! They arrived today! Surviving Customs and erroneous loading onto the wrong truck in NYC which delayed delivery by two extra days, we can all breathe a little more easily now that they’ve finally arrived. Everyone who pre-ordered these Subaru Forester or Impreza window vent visors (rain guards) can expect their shipment to go out in the next day or two, if not today. We thank all who pre-ordered for their patience and trust during this painfully long two-month wait.

Installing Older Forester Window Vent Visors: A Customer’s Story

The following post was first published on the website for Subaru Forester Owners Forum at  http://www.subaruforester.org/vbulletin/f80/2008-forester-window-vent-visors-55273/?referrerid=25636#post614407.
It is published with the customer’s permission and we thank him for his excellent story.

Default 2008 Forester Window Vent Visors

So, my wife and I recently replaced a ‘98 Caravan with an ‘08 Forester. The first thing I had to do was transplant the stereo.

Then my wife asks if I can put on a set of Window Vent Visors like she had on the Caravan. I’ve put them on the last few cars we had and I do like having them on. They generally are mounted on the frame around the top of the window and as most of you know, the ‘08 Forester lacks frames around the tops of the windows.

Hmm, time for some internet research… Yes, no, maybe, no definitive answer. You click through the year, make, model etc. and at the end it warns you to make sure the item will fit your car… WTF?? And to top it off… no picture of a Forester with the visors mounted.

Then I found a company called C&C Car Worx II, Inc that seemed to specialize in Subaru specific products including Forester Window Vent Visors. Clicking around the site I noticed they were located about 10 miles away from me. I called and a couple of days later I visited their world headquarters, met Steve, the president of the company and bought myself a set of Forester Window Vent Visors for about $85 (and a Rear Step Cover Plate as well).

It is a two piece set and each one spans both doors. They are the typical plastic, very darkly tinted, practically opague and they mount with a thin strip of 3m tape. Pretty nice looking product.

The install went very easy. The only tool I used was a 50 cent box cutter. The only materials needed are a couple of clean rags, a bottle of rubbing alcohol and some masking tape.

Steve gave me some helpful installation tips but of course I just figured it out myself! lol!

Make certain that all the windows are all the way up before you start!

Then line up the back of the visor with the back of the door and hang the visor in place.

Check that the top edge of the visor follows the contour and slope of the door and roofline. Make certain that the windows are all the way up and check that the tops of the doors do not hit the visors when you open the doors!

When both sides look even start from the back peel the covering off the tape and pull down. (You may need to use the extended blade of the box cutter to start the tape) Get at least a foot or so peeled down before you start to press the visor down or the covering will get stuck. Pull off the masking tape ahead of you as you go.

Using a soft rag slide back and forth with steady pressure to firmly seat the tape. According to Steve rain won’t affect it but do not wash the car for 72 hours so the tape can cure.

I’m not really a fan of the stick on visors but there’s no other way on a car without window frames and the job turned out looking pretty good.

Now we can
A. Leave the windows open an inch in the parking lot and not worry if it showers.
B. Drive with the windows cracked open in the rain and…
C. Not get a free face wash when running the windshield washers. Yay!

Have a nice day!
