The F-108N Engine

The N-type Fumoto Valve can attach a hose to its nipple joint. This can come in handy when dealing with tight spots or inaccessible, hard to reach areas. THIS N-TYPE VALVE IS ABSOLUTELY NOT RECOMMENDED FOR VEHICLES THAT ARE LOW TO THE GROUND such as Subaru models like the BRZ, Impreza, Legacy, and WRX and Toyota models like the Scion FR-S, now branded as the "86," Avalon, C-HR, Camry, Corolla, Prius and Yaris. The standard F-108 valve will work fine on these vehicles, however.
Incorporating Fumoto's most compact ball valve, Fumoto's FN series valves are designed to fit cars, light trucks, vans and select commercial engines. These models are equipped with a nipple which allows a hose to be attached for convenient draining. Constructed of forged brass and stainless steel to exacting Japanese specifications, the FN series valves are designed to provide a lifetime of dependable and reliable service. Used to drain engine oil with the touch of a finger and eliminates stripped threads. Replaces drain plug for quick, easy, clean oil change. Ideal for drawing small sample of oil for oil analysis. Helps avoid contact with hot oil and prevents hands and clothes from getting messed up. The thread sizes on the F108N are 16mm-1.5 and is commonly used on Subaru vehicle engines.

Got this for my 2013 Scion FRS. Please note that this valve comes with a blue fiber washer, so use the supplied one and don't add a oem crush washer. The valve had a slow leak initially, until I discovered it was my mistake of only hand tightening the valve. Make sure to first hand tighten, then use a wrench to tighten the valve another 1/8 to 1/4 turn. For me, the valve was pretty tight after 1/8 turn, and now there are no leaks.

If you're like me and change your own oil, this product solves so many problems its a wonder its not installed at the factory. No crossed thread risk. No oil on your hand. No oil splash. Easy disposal of oil via a tube into an empty container. Time and mess saver. A no brainer.

I installed this on my new 2014 Subaru Forester and it is great. It does not protrude below the lower body shield and works just as described. With a short length of tubing attached it makes draining the engine oil back into last time's 5 qt oil container for recycling a breeze--it fact, when it's breezy, no oil drops are blown on to the driveway as they were prior to using this when I had a drain pan under the car. No crush washer replacement is required, and cleanup is way simpler. I highly recommend this small addition to make regular maintenance handled quickly and cleanly. Oh and my new Subaru has the oil filter on top of the engine--easily accessible while standing with the hood open. Why didn't design engineers think of this long ago?! If you change your own oil--CHECK THIS OUT. The combination of the filter placement and the addition of this drain valve make regular oil changes easy. And changing the oil regularly ranks right behind no drinking and no txting while driving as the best strategies to make sure you and your car last a long time.

Installed on a 2015 Subaru XV Crosstrek with perfect results. It stays tucked up out of the way from being hit by anything and the spring-loaded valve lever has to be pressed AND moved in order to open the valve. I installed a tight-fitting valve cap for extra insurance, but I strongly doubt anything can make this valve fail under normal use. Build quality is top notch, and convenience of being able to control the drain flow is priceless. I'm able to drain the oil into quart containers if I wish for easy disposal, or take a sample for an oil analysis easily. This valve pays for itself since I no longer have to purchase the crush washers for each oil change.

Installation for Standard Fumoto Valves
Prepare: Remove the drain plug from your oil pan and drain oil completely. Be sure that the surface of your oil drain port is clean before proceeding with installation.
Assemble: Place the blue fiber gasket (not required for tapered thread or O-ring valves) onto the valve so it will sit flat between the oil pan and the valve once installed.
Hand-Tighten: Begin gently threading the valve into your oil drain port by hand. Once you have ensured that the valve is straight and not cross-threaded, hand-tighten completely.
Torque: Tighten the valve with a crescent wrench on the body of the valve* an additional 1/8 to 1/4 turn. Do not over tighten.
*Do not use a wrench on the hex head if present
**An adapter may be required if the valve cannot be completely tightened due to contact with the oil pan.
Close and lock: Close the valve by firmly turning the control lever clockwise until it stops and is perpendicular to the oil outlet. The lever will click into the recess and lock in position. You should not be able to rotate the lever without first lifting upward.
Clip on and fill up: Install a lever clip if desired around the turret of the valve. If the lever is not seated properly, the lever clip will not fit. Refill the oil to complete your oil change. Always inspect the oil pan for leaks before operating your vehicle.
Operation
To open the valve, remove the lever clip if installed then lift the control lever upward and turn 90° counterclockwise.
To close the valve, turn the control lever firmly clockwise until it stops and is perpendicular to the oil outlet. The lever will click into the recess and lock in position. You should not be able to rotate the lever without first lifting upward. Reinstall the lever clip if desired around the turret of the valve. If the lever is not seated properly, the lever clip will not fit. Always inspect the oil pan for leaks before operating your vehicle.
